About Kavalo
Business systems, built by someone who has run the work
Kavalo puts engineers inside working businesses and builds the systems they run on: forward deployed engineering, consulting, ERP development and implementation, voice AI for inbound calls, and websites. We work with three industries only: equestrian, agriculture and ranching.

Where Kavalo comes from
Zachary Leyden, founder

Zachary Leyden owns and runs Ocean View Stables and Leyden Horsemanship, equestrian businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area. To run them, he built their operating system himself: online booking, customer records, a waiver for every rider, a staff board that goes out at 6 every morning, lesson progress for each rider, an AI phone receptionist that answers calls and hands them to staff, and the accounting behind it all. He also trained the team that uses it every day.
He co-founded Saved by the Saddle, a separate nonprofit at Ocean View Stables, with horsemanship programs for youth and veterans.
He has also spent years working with ERP systems, and has built custom software projects for a telecommunications company.
Kavalo exists to bring that kind of system to barns, farms and ranches, built around how the work really happens: owners who also do the daily work, staff in barns, fields, corrals, packing sheds and pickups, customers who call while everyone is busy, and schedules that depend on people, equipment, weather and animals.
His own operating experience is with horses. On a farm or a ranch we start the same way: an engineer learns how the work really moves before anything is built, and we claim no results we have not seen.

Built and run first at home
What those businesses run on
Every piece below runs in Zachary's own businesses today, built and maintained by him. It is the starting point for what we build for others, never a copy of it.
Online booking
Lessons, rides and events booked online, with the schedule, the rider and the payment on one record.
A waiver for every rider
Each rider signs their own waiver, a guardian signs for a child, and the schedule shows who is cleared before they arrive.
The 6 AM staff board
Every morning the team gets the day's bookings, riders and horses by email and text, before the first lesson.
Lesson progress
After each lesson the instructor and the rider each log what happened, so every rider's progress is on record.
An AI phone receptionist
Calls are answered when nobody can pick up, and each one lands as a lead or a message for the team.
Follow-up and reporting
Quiet leads are followed up on a schedule, duplicate contacts are merged, and the owner's reports cover money, bookings, horses and hours.
Ocean View Stables and Leyden Horsemanship are Zachary's own businesses. They are where Kavalo's methods were built and tested. They are not clients, and nothing on this page is offered as a client result.
How we decide
Principles we work by
Plain language first
If we cannot explain it without jargon, we do not understand it well enough yet.
Standard before custom
We use what the software already does well and build only what it does not.
Every automation has an owner and an off switch
Nothing runs that nobody watches, and anything can be paused.
People decide what matters
Money, safety and customer promises stay with a person, with the system doing the preparation.
Accurate or silent
No invented numbers, results or reviews, on this site or in the systems we build.
Your data stays yours
Each client runs in its own environment, under its own accounts and agreements.
Talk to the person who will do the work
Free consultations are with the people who design and build your system, not a sales team.
